NP-032-19 has been put into effect

On December 13, 2019, the Federal Safety Regulations NP-032-19 “Nuclear Power Plant Site. Safety Requirements” has been put into effect.

NP-032-19 specifies the basic safety criteria and requirements to NPP siting, NPP site evaluation with the account of processes, phenomena and factors of natural and man-induced origin of the NPP location region and site effecting NPP safety, as well as to monitoring of environment components and accounting of NPP effects on public and environment.

The Federal Safety Regulations covers the stages of NPP full life cycle, except for the floating NPPs. The procedure for bringing NPPs in conformance with NP-032-19, as well as the terms and the scope of necessary actions, shall be specified for each case individually in the terms and conditions of a license for NPP siting, construction, operation or decommissioning.

The requirements of the Federal Safety Regulations are mandatory for implementation by operating organizations, as well as by organizations performing activities and rendering services for operating organizations.
