"Women in Nuclear Russia" held a creative visiting meeting in the Museum of the Obninsk сity history

22.03.2021 The excursion around the exhibition was headed by the artist herself. Irina told the history of some of her paintings and answered the questions about the way she planned her water paintings and sketches, told about her dedication of the last years to depict ancient fortresses and cathedrals, to history of various countries, expressed in architecture which has its own individual nature. The exhibition also presented landscape paintings and distinguished book illustrations exhibited for the first time.

"An artist's imagination is always awake", Irina says.

"And when you are lucky to awake an echo in a visitor's heart, you feel happy", she emphasizes.

"All the arts are amazingly light and bright", says Alena Yakovleva, the President of WiN Russia, "emotional, cheerful and positive, as Irina herself".

"It's incredible, but the artist is the former systems analyst in the field of nuclear safety by profession, i.e. the field which is far from being a woman's and creative. However, Irina in a remarkable manner succeeds to combine these two areas: a technical and an artistic one. You can meet Irina in the streets of a foreigh city with a photo camera, sketchbook and other art-and-crafty attributes".

"Astonishing is the fact, that canvas or brush-coated paintings are born at home, just from memory! The observed landscapes and scenes come to dreams at night, as if they cry out for being painted! And all the pictures, dated in 2020, are pictured from memory, because there were no trips that year", shares her impression from the exhibition Natalia Zhdanova, specialist of the Rosatom Technical Academy.

This was not the first solo exhibition of Irina Kupriyanova in the Museum of the Obninsk сity history. The museum evolves and its official website presents the section "Virtual Museum", where one can enjoy an outstanding video prepared by the museum personnel about the artist's excursion.

"Irina's paintings have a lot of light tones", says Daria Tyulpa, specialist of the TVEL fuel company, "For instance, there was depicted a fragment of a palace, but you can feel a warm summer day. It makes you feel eager to walk up the stairs.

The exhibition leaves a feeling of a light cheerful life and optimism, it wakes up your imagination fostering the spectators to go on a prompt trip, although on a virtual one".

The working section of the meeting was in the format of a round table. There were discussed plans, further projects, and, naturally, post-COVID visions. The participants experienced joy from engagement with the art, from their communication which they lacked badly in the past year.

"Obninsk has a special air", said Moscow citizens.

Everybody shared a wish to include such format of work in future plans.
