NP-085-19 has been put into effect

On December 6, 2019, the Federal Safety Regulations NP-085-19 “Requirements to Physical Protection of Ships with Nuclear Reactors, Nuclear Maintenance Ships and Ships for Nuclear Materials Transportation, as well as Floating NPPs” has been put into effect.

NP-085-19 stipulates requirements to physical protection of:

• ships and other floating vessels with nuclear reactors, including floating nuclear power units with nuclear materials, except for military nuclear power installations;
• ships used for freighting and transport of nuclear materials among facilities;
• nuclear maintenance ships (special-purpose ships used for transport, storage, process operations and nuclear fuel refueling);
• floating nuclear power plants.
