Section 3 "Transfer of ionizing radiation, radiation protection, spreading (migration) of radioactive materials"

On November 21, 2018 a regular meeting of Section 3 “Transfer of ionizing radiation, radiation protection, spreading (migration) of radioactive materials” of the Rostechnadzor Expert Council On Validation of Computer Codes took place.

Participants of the meeting: Bauman Moscow State Technical University, FSUE "Krylov State Research Centre", Nuclear Safety Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, FSUE "Troitsk Institute for Innovation and Fusion Research", JSC "VNIIAES", JSC "NIKIET", FSBI "Research and Production Association "Typhoon", FSBI "State Research Centre Burnasyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center of the Federal Medical Biological Agency", JSC "ATOMPROEKT", JSC "State Scientific Centre of the Russian Federation – Leipunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering", JSC OKB "GIDROPRESS", JSC "OKBM Afrikantov".

Results of the computer code "TARUSA-9" (developed by JSC "NIKIET") review were discussed at the meeting. Verification of the code was carried out for calculating such characteristics of spent nuclear fuel of BREST nuclear installation as nuclides – fission products, and power density resulting from gamma and beta radiation. "TARUSA-9" is recommended for validation.

Besides, participants of the meeting discussed new procedure for conducting computer codes expertise which was established by the Rostechnadzor Order № 325 dated July 20, 2018 and registered by the Ministry of Justice on November 12, 2018 № 52650.
