SEC NRS representatives participated in the preparatory follow-up IAEA IRRS mission meeting, held on August 12-13, 2013 in Rostechnadzor

In the framework of the preparatory meeting representatives of the IAEA indicated in detailed manner the procedure of follow-up mission to be held in November 2013, the Rostechnadzor regulatory technical and policy issues subjected to review in the scope of the follow-up mission including those to address significant change in regulatory activities since the 2009 mission as well as organizational matters.

SEC NRS representatives made presentations on the main results and progress in response to IRRS 2009 mission recommendations and suggestions, as well as self-assessment results on two new IAEA  modules "Emergency Preparedness and Response" and "The Regulatory Implications of the Fukushima Accident".

FOR REFERENCE

At the request of the Government of the Russian Federation the IAEA Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) mission was conducted in 2009 and  the  international team of experts identified 5 good practices and concluded 25 recommendations and 34 suggestions where improvements were necessary or desirable to further enhance the legal and regulatory framework for safety.

According to IAEA procedure and at the request of the Russian party a follow-up mission to be held in November 2013 to review measures undertaken by Russia to address the recommendations and suggestions arising from the initial mission.
