Amendments to NP-055-14, NP-058-14, NP-069-14 and NP-103-17

On July 25, 2022 the amendments to the Federal Rules and Regulations in the field of atomic energy use are coming into effect with regard to issues of safety regulation at management of radioactive wastes: NP-055-14, NP-058-14, NP-069-14 and NP-103-17. The amendments were approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No.163 of May 18, 2022 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on July 14, 2022 under the No. 69272). For referenceNP-055-14 “Disposal of Radioactive Waste. Principles, Criteria and General Safety Requirements” establishes the goal, principles, criteria and major requirements to the safety at disposal of radioactive wastes. Approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 379 of August 22, 2014 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on February 2, 2015 under the registry No. 35819) with the amendments introduced by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 582 of November 22, 2018 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on December 12, 2018 under the registry No. 52986). NP-058-14 “Safety in Radioactive Waste Management. General Provisions” establishes goals, principles and general requirements to the safety at management of radioactive waste. Approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 347 of August 5, 2014 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on November 14, 2014 under the registry No. 34701) with the amendments introduced by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 582 of November 22, 2018 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on December 12, 2018 under the registry No. 52986). NP-069-14 “Near-Surface Disposal of Radioactive Waste. Safety Requirements” establishes safety requirements to the designed, constructed, operated, decommissioned and closed near-surface disposal facilities for radioactive wastes. Approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 249 of June 5, 2013 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on August 14, 2014 under the registry No. 33583) with the amendments introduced by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 582 of November 22, 2018 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on December 12, 2018 under the registry No. 52986). NP-103-17 “Safety Requirements for Special Radioactive Waste Disposal and Preservation Facilities” establishes categories for special radioactive waste disposal facilities and preservation facilities, as well as the requirements to the safety of special radioactive waste disposal facilities and preservation facilities of various categories.
