Mr. A. Khamaza, Director of SEC NRS, took part in the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Innovative Designs and Technologies of Nuclear Power”

12.10.2014

Mr. A. Khamaza, Director of SEC NRS, made a report on the topic: “Experience in Safety Review of New NPP Designs at Arrangement of Scientific and Technical Support to the Regulatory Authority”, and also participated in the round-table discussion on the topic “Global Nuclear Power Development and Present Challenges”, devoted to the discussion of the actual challenges faced by the Russian Federation and world-wide economic community.

On October 7-10, 2014 the Third International Scientific and Technical Conference Innovative Designs and Technologies of Nuclear Power” (ISTC NIKIET-2014) supported by the State Corporation “Rosatom”, IAEA, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Nuclear Society was held in the “N.A. Dollezhal Research and Development Institute of Power Engineering”.

Specialists from more than 40 Russian and foreign organizations took part in the Conference. The Scientific Agenda of the Conference consisted of the reports of scientists, designers and process engineers from 17 countries: Belarus, Belgium, Vietnam, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Netherlands, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, USA, Finland, France, Croatia and Sweden.

In frames of the Conference 23 plenary sessions, 82 section activities and 20 poster presentations were held on the actual problems of development of innovative designs of nuclear installations with lead, sodium and gas coolants, research reactors, small power reactors, closed nuclear fuel cycle facilities and those related to management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste (including spent nuclear fuel storages), as well as of innovative solutions for water cooled reactors.

Section activities considered the challenges and solutions on key issues of development of innovative designs and technologies. Among them are: innovative designs of various-purpose nuclear installations; nuclear fuel and new materials; closed fuel cycle technologies, spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management, small power reactors (stationary, transportable, floatable, space installations); integrated computation codes of a new generation for safety analysis of nuclear power facilities and their fuel cycles.
