The 10-th International Scientific and Technical Conference “SAFETY ASSURANCE of NPP with VVER” took place (МNТК-2017)

On May 19, 2017 ОКB «GIDROPRESS» hosted the 10-th International Scientific and Technical Conference «Safety Assurance of NPP with VVER» (МNТК-2017).

The purpose of this Conference: to provide the specialists with opportunity for the fruitful exchange of experience, best practices and information regarding issues related with the safety of VVER-type nuclear plants operation, calculation and experimental activities aimed at safety improvement, modernization and service-life extension of NPPs with VVER.

Director of SEC NRS, Mr. Alexander Khamaza, took part in the opening of the Conference and made presentation: “On Compliance of the Russian Power Units with New Generation VVERs with the Current International Approaches to Safety”.

This Conference was attended by Russian and foreign specialists from design and engineering organizations, machine-building plants, scientific and research institutions, nuclear power plants.

Reports presented during this Conference were devoted to resolving issues related with working capacity and safety ensuring of NPPs with VVER-type reactor installations in the course of design, R&D, operation and decommissioning. Participants have presented their reports in seven Sections:

• Section 1: Development and verification of computer codes for safety justification.
• Section 2: Problems of justification of design-engineering solutions and experimental support during NPP designing and commissioning.
• Section 3: Fuel, fuel utilization, core physics.
• Section 4: Problems of operation, monitoring and control, diagnostics, modernization and life extension of operating NPPs.
• Section 5: Material science, strength and water chemistry.
• Section 6: Innovative supercritical pressure reactors of the IV-th generation.
• Section 7: Development, verification and application of CFD computer codes in nuclear engineering.
