RB-019-17 has been approved

On March 2, 2018 the Safety Guide RB-019-17 “Evaluation of Original Seismicity of a Nuclear Facility Region and Site during Engineering Surveys and Studies” was approved.

The Safety Guide contains recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia to the scope, content and methods of engineering surveys and studies for evaluation of the original seismicity of the location region and site and for justification of safe location of a nuclear facility with the account of the detailed clarification of geodynamic, seismotectonic and seismological conditions.

The Safety Guide is intended to be applied by organizations performing detailed engineering surveys and studies of the location region and site and preparing materials for safety substantiation in order to obtain a license for the facility siting, construction, operation and decommissioning, as well as by Rostechnadzor subdivisions involved in a safety review of materials for the nuclear facility.

The Safety Guide does not cover seismic microzoning of a nuclear facility site.

The Safety Guide has been issued to substitute the RB-019-01 “Seismic Hazard Evaluation for Sites of Nuclear and Radiation-Hazardous Facilities Based on Geodynamic Data”.
