On June 1, 2018, the Safety Guide RB-145-18 “Radiation Load Monitoring and Estimation of Burn-up Life of the VVER Equipment” has been put into effect.

The Safety Guide contains the recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia on radiation load monitoring and estimation of the burn-up life of the VVER equipment.

The Safety Guide covers the equipment of VVER, subject to radiation exposure from the reactor, for which monitoring over the current state of neutron irradiation parameters is necessary to be performed in the control zones in compliance with the requirements of the NP-084-15 “Unified Inspection Procedures for Base Materials, Weld Joints and Build-Ups in the Course of Operation of Equipment, Pipelines and Other Elements of Nuclear Power Plants”.

The Safety Guide is recommended to be applied by the legal entities involved in design, engineering, manufacturing, operation, and decommissioning of NPP equipment.

The provisions of the Safety Guide are recommended to be taken into account, when specifying the requirements of the operating organization to monitoring of radiation load to the equipment in the process of NPP operation.

The Safety Guide was developed with the account of the national and foreign experience in radiation load monitoring and estimation of the burn-up life of the NPP equipment.
