Basics of the State Policy in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety in the Russian Federation

On October 13, 2018 the Basics of the State Policy in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety in the Russian Federation until 2025 and beyond were adopted by the Decree of the Russian Federation President.

These Basics serve as strategic planning document in the field of national safety provision in the Russian Federation. The Basics determine the goals, objectives, basic trends and implementation tools of the State Policy in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety in the Russian Federation until 2025 and beyond.

The State Policy in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety in the Russian Federation is a set of coordinated measures (political, economic, engineering, social, legal, informational and other) united by a general concept. The measures are used for peaceful and defense purposes determined by government authorities, government bodies of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local government bodies, State Atomic Energy Corporation “ROSATOM”, other organizations. The measures are aimed at the provision of national interests, implementation of strategic national priorities of the Russian Federation, protection of life and health of citizens, property, and at the environmental protection.

The Decree of the Russian Federation President № 585 from October 13, 2018 came into force on the date of its signature.

This Decree revokes the Basics of the State Policy in the field of Nuclear and Radiation Safety in the Russian Federation until 2025 approved by the Decree of the Russian Federation President № 539 from March 1, 2012.
