44th Meeting of the Commission on Safety Standards took place at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna

SEC NRS Deputy Director Mr Rashet Sharafutdinov took part in the 44th Meeting of the Commission on Safety Standards (CSS) which was held in Austria (IAEA Headquarters in Vienna) on November 14-15, 2018.

IAEA Commission on Safety Standards is a permanent body which unites senior officials of national regulatory bodies responsible for development and enforcement of regulatory documents concerning nuclear, radiation safety, transportation safety, and waste management. CSS Meetings are held regularly, namely twice a year, and cover the discussions of IAEA policies and strategies in the field of policy-making, and the revision of the prepared safety standards drafts and its publication in case of readiness.

The following documents were approved for publication during the meeting:

  • DS 484 “Site evaluation for nuclear installations”;
  • DS 403 “Decommissioning of medical, industrial and research facilities”;
  • DS 471 “Radiation Safety of X-Ray Generators and Radiation Sources Used for Inspection Purposes and for Non-Medical Imaging”;
  • DS 481 “Design of the Reactor Coolant System and Associated Systems in Nuclear Power Plants”;
  • DS 482 “Design of Reactor Containment Structure and Systems for Nuclear Power Plants”;
  • DS 486 “Establishing the Safety Infrastructure for a Nuclear Power Programme”;
  • DS 488 “Design of the Reactor Core for Nuclear Power Plants”;
  • DS 491 “Deterministic Safety Analysis for Nuclear Power Plants”;
  • DS 492 “Human Factors Engineering in the Design of Nuclear Power Plants”.

SEC NRS is a technical and scientific support organization of Rostechnadzor and an associated member of the European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON).
