Enactment of NP-104-186 on January 6

On January 6 the Federal Safety Regulations NP-104-18 "Welding and Overlay Welding of Equipment and Pipelines of Nuclear Installations" comes into effect.

The Regulations stipulate the requirements to manufacture, mounting and repair of the equipment and pipelines of nuclear power installations:

а) to welding and overlay welding, and also to welding materials, welding equipment, preparation and assembling for welding, types of weld joints, heat treatment of weld joints and overlaid parts;

б) to control of quality of welding and overlaying materials

в) to correction of defects and inspection

NP-104-18 cover welding and overlay welding of parts and assembly units:

a) equipment and pipelines subject to the Federal Safety Regulations in the field of atomic energy use "Rules of Design and Safe Operation of Equipment and Pipelines of Nuclear Power Installations" (NP-089-15) approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia No. 521 of December 16, 2015(registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on February 9, 2015 under the No. 41010);

b) equipment and pipelines operated under excessive or vacuum-gauge pressure and belonging to elements of the Safety Class 3, not covered in the NP-089-15;

c) supports and hangers of the equipment and pipelines mentioned in items "a" and "b" of the paragraph;

d) internals of water-water reactors and fast neutron reactors;

e) metal structures of NPP fuel pools, refueling ponds and spent nuclear fuel storage pools.

The requirements to welding and overlay welding shall be taken into account in the process of development of the engineering (design) documentation.
