SEC NRS attended the EUROSAFE Forum in Cologne

SEC NRS attended the EUROSAFE Forum in Cologne 13.12.2019 The EUROSAFE annual forum of the European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON) took place on November 4 and 5 in Cologne, Germany. The SEC NRS delegation headed by Alexander Khamaza, Director, attended the Forum.

For the 19th time since 1999, experts from ETSON member organisations and representatives of regulatory authorities, scientific institutions and the industry from all over Europe and beyond met to discuss current topics in nuclear safety, nuclear waste management, radiation protection and EPR.

The Forum programme did not only offer expert lectures in three different topical seminars but also discussions on more generic tasks and challenges in nuclear safety.

SEC NRS experts participated in three topical seminars and delivered talks on the following topics:

- The software implementation of the method for assessment the level of nuclear and radiological events in the INES;
- Methodology of an explosion safety assessment of sorption processes for SNF and waste treatment;
- Actual issues of VVER reactor pressure vessel irradiation embrittlement assessment.

The high-ranking representatives of the European Commission, ETSON, the Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies in Africa (FNRBA) and the nuclear industry met up to discuss with the audience the potential benefits of international networks of organisations dealing with nuclear safety.

Apart from its variety of lectures and discussions, the EUROSAFE Forum also offered the opportunity for the participants to get in touch with the ETSON-member organisations which presented themselves at the TSO Café.

The ETSON Board and General Assembly meetings with SEC NRS involvement took place on the sidelines of the Forum, as well as the meeting of the ETSON Communication Group chaired by Denis Mistryugov, SEC NRS Head International Cooperation Division.
