RB-093-20 has been put into effect

On March 11, 2020 the Safety Guide RB-093-20 “Radiation, Thermal and Physical Characteristics of Spent Nuclear Fuel from Water-Moderated Power Reactors and High Power Channel-Type Reactors” has been put into effect.

The Safety Guide covers nuclear installations and nuclear material storage facilities performing the activity related to management of spent nuclear fuel from water-moderated power reactors and high power channel-type reactors, as well as to handling such fuel in the process of transportation.

The Safety Guide contains recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia on the radionuclide composition, nuclear constants and thermal and physical characteristics of spent nuclear fuel from water-moderated power reactors and high power channel-type reactors to be used for safety substantiation of nuclear facilities.

RB-093-20 is intended to be used by the specialists of design and operating organizations for safety substantiation of nuclear installations and nuclear material storage facilities, where the activity related to management of spent nuclear fuel from water-moderated power reactors and high power channel-type reactors is planned to be or is performed, as well as by the specialists of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia, who evaluate safety analysis of the mentioned facilities in the field of atomic energy use in the process of licensing of the relevant activities.
