ETSON Workshop on Key Challenges for Nuclear Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic

13.07.2020 The European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON) Workshop on Key Challenges for Nuclear Safety during the Covid-19 Pandemic took place on June 23, 2020 via videoconference. Participants from 9 technical and scientific support organizations (Bel V, ENEA, GRS, JSI, IRSN, Jacobs, LEI, RATEN ICN, SEC NRS) presented information on the situation in their countries. SEC NRS was represented by Denis Mistryugov, Head of the International Cooperation Division.

The workshop revealed similarities and differences in challenges that countries faced and measures that they took to respond to the challenges. Moreover, participants presented their views on the challenges that are expected in the future.

Common approaches to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic comprise the availability of key staff, teleworking, remote inspections as well as consideration of risks and future possible challenges.

Considering the successful experience of the workshop, ETSON is planning to conduct similar events on ongoing issues in the future.
