Meeting of Session No.6 "Strength and Reliability of Civil Structures of Buildings and Facilities" of the Rostechnadzor Expert Council on Validation of Computer Codes

25.02.2021 The participants of the meeting discussed the new revision of the draft requirements to the report on Verification/Validation of Computer Codes, developed by SEC NRS and to be applied in the process of safety review of nuclear facilities. The Session members gave their proposals on improvement of the mentioned requirements.

The Session also discussed the preliminary results of review of the following computer codes:

• "LIRA 10", verification/validation of which was conducted in the part of calculations of the stress-strain behavior and fixity of civil structures of nuclear facilities under steady-state, temperature and dynamic loads in linear-elastic position (the Customer of the review is LLC "Lira Soft");
• "PLAXIS" (Versions PLAXIS 2D СЕ V20 and PLAXIS 3D СЕ V20), verification/validation of which was conducted in the part of calculations of the stress-strain behavior, filtration problems in two dimensional and three dimensional position by the method of finite elements (the Customer of the review is JSC "Atomenergoproekt").

Moreover, there were addressed issues on assigning of experts for the computer code ABAQUS (the Customer of the review is JSC "Atomenergoproekt"), and also issues about validation certificates for computer codes "ASTAN PUCHOK" (JSC "Atomenergoproekt", registry No. 298 of 29.01.11), "OM SNiP Reinforced Concrete" (JSC "Atomenergoproekt", registry No. 300 of 29.01.11), the validity period of which expires in 2021.

Reference information: Rostechnadzor Order of 20.09.2018 No. 450 states that SEC NRS carries out review of computer codes.

The Rostechnadzor Expert Council on Validation of Computer Codes was founded under the auspices of Rostechnadzor for implementation of Article 8 of the Review Procedure for Computer Codes Applied for Building Computed Models of Processes Affecting Safety of Nuclear Facilities and (or) Activities in the Field of Atomic Energy Use approved by the Order of Rostechnadzor No. 325 of 30.07.2018 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on 12.11.2018 under the No. 52650).

The Provision on the Expert Council was approved by the Order of Rostechnadzor No. 655 of 27.12.2018. The main tasks for the Expert Council are evaluation of the results of computer codes review, as well as giving proposals on the content of draft validation certificates for computer codes.
