Report “Methods for assessing and strengthening the safety culture of the regulatory body” was published by NEA

On March 11, 2021 the report “Methods for assessing and strengthening the safety culture of the regulatory body” was published on the website of Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD NEA).

The report was developed within the period 2017–2020 by the members of the Working Group on Safety Culture (WGSC), which includes representatives from 18 member countries: the experts in the safety culture, organizational culture, human and institutional factors. The report was elaborated with the involvement of SEC NRS specialists among others: Mr. R.B.Sharafutdinov, SEC NRS Deputy Director, Mr. A. L. Vasilishin, Head of Laboratory of the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Facilities Safety Division, and Mr. D. V. Konoplev, Chief Specialist of the Documentation Development Organization Division.

Information on the report development was published formerly in the academic and research journal "Nuclear and Radiation Safety" No. 3 (97)-2020 in the Section "International Information", as well as on the official website of the journal, the publisher of which is SEC NRS, included in the scope of the European Technical Safety Organisations Network (ETSON).

The report was intended for persons making top-level decisions on shaping of policy in the field of safety culture. It is aimed at increase of the actual knowledge of national regulatory bodies leadership about significancy of the sustained safety culture, about the actual approaches applied in variuos countries to generate safety culture; emphasizes the importance of commitment to following the policy in the field of safety culture in the routine activity of leadership of variuos levels and provision of support to various initiatives aimed at shaping of the safety culture in an organization. Moreover, the report can be useful for experts involved in implementation of measures on development and evaluation of the safety culture in an organization.
