Meeting of Session No. 4 "Strength and Lifetime of Systems, Components and Equipment" of the Rostechnadzor Expert Council on Validation of Computer Codes

30.03.2021 The mentioned meeting addressesd the following issues:

1. Applications for review of the following computer codes: "Fidesys" (Customer of the review – JSC "Red Star"), "DIANA_M", "DIANA_S", "DIANA_T" (Customer of the review – LLC "SNIIP-ASKUR").

2. Applications for reissuance of the following validation certificates for computer codes upon expiry of the validity period: validation certificate with the registry No. 399 of 14.07.2016 for the computer code "RAPTA-5.2" (JSC “VNIINM”) and validation certificate with the registry No. 328 of 18.04.2013 for the computer code "START 4А" (JSC “VNIINM”).

3. The results of the review and draft validation certificates for the following computer codes:

• "Resource" (Customer of the review – FSUE RFNC-VNIIEF) intended for calculation of parameters of thermoplastic deformation process and fatigue damage accumulation in structural elements of the equipment and systems of VVER and RBMK ractor installations (excepr for RI elements subject to irradiation at the stage of operation and lifetime extension) under operational quasistatic irregular thermomechanical impacts varying in time according to a desired law.
• "ANSYS Mechanical" (Customer of the review – PJSC "Izhorskiye Zavody") verified/validated for solving thermomechanical problems of statics and dynamics of equipment and pipelines of a nudclear facility in linear and non-linear position, fixity, as well as natural forced and random oscillations (vibrations) in harmonic, linear-spectral and spectral-dynamic analysis.
• "GRAD" (Customer of the review – NRC “Kurchatov Institute”) intended for prediction calculations of RBMK-1000 graphite stack deformations.
• "BERKUT-U V2.1" (Customer of the review – IBRAE RAS) intended for computational modeling of stress-strain state and temperature distribution in fuel rods, nonfailure operating time and radioactive interconversion and migration of fission products in fuel, intragranular and intercrystalline transfer of radioactive fission products, and thermochemical conversions in fuel.
• "RTOP-SKh" (Customer of the review – JSC “SRC RF TRINITI”) intended for computerized simulation of fuel rods distortion and physico-chemical processes in fuel rod claddings in the mode of drying, transport (except for dynamic loads: vibration, impacts) and long-term dry storage of the irradiated fuel assemblies of VVER reactors.
• "LMS" (Customer of the review – JSC "STCD") intended for computation of the mass flow ratio for coolant leaks in pipelines of VVER 440/1000 reactor plant on the basis of analysis of data on acoustic noise on the pipelines surface, relative humidity and medium temperature in subinsulation space of pipelines.

4. New revisions of the following validation certificates of computer codes reissued upon the expiry of their validity period: validation certificate for computer code "COSMOS/M" under the registry No. 296 (PJSC "Izhorskiye Zavody"); validation certificate for computer code "MSC.Marc" under the registry No. 246 (JSC OKB “GIDROPRESS”).

Reference information: Rostechnadzor Order No. 450 of 20.09.2018 states that SEC NRS is in charge of the activity on the review of computer codes.

The Expert Council on Validation of Computer Codes was found under the auspices of Rostechnadzor for implementation of the Article 8 of the "Review Procedure for Computer Codes applied to Build Cumputational Models for Processes Affecting Safety of Nuclear Facilities and(or) Activities in the Field of Atomic Energy Use" approved by Rostechnadzor Order No. 325 of 30.07.2018 (registered by the Ministry of Justice of Russia on 12.11.2018
No. 52650).

Provisions on the Expert Council approved by Rostechnadzor Order No. 655 of 27.12.2018. The Expert Council major tasks are to evaluate the results of review of computer codes, as well as to provide proposals on the content of draft validation certificates for computer codes.
