Enactment of RB-085-21

On September 23, 2021 the Safety Guide RB-085-21 "Recommendations to the Contents of Documents to Substantiate Standards for Maximum Permissible Emissions of Radioactive Substances into Atmosphere and Standards for Permissible Discharges of Radioactive Substances into Water Bodies" was put into effect.

The Safety Guide contains recommendations of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia on the content of documents justifying standards for maximum permissible emissions of radioactive substances into atmosphere and standards for permissible discharges of radioactive substances into water bodies submitted to Rostechnadzor to obtain a permit for radioactive substances emissions into atmosphere and (or) a permit for radioactive substances discharges into water bodies, precisely: draft standards for permissible radioactive substances emissions and discharges as well as documents containing data on inventory survey for radioactive substances emissions and discharges.

Recommendations of RB-085-21 cover stationary facilities performing radioactive substances emissions into atmosphere and (or) discharges into water bodies.

Recommendations of the Safety Guide are intended to be applied by:

• organizations involved in development of draft standards for maximum permissible radioactive substances emissions into atmosphere and standards for permissible radioactive substances discharges into water bodies, as well as by organizations carrying out safety review for the mentioned drafts;
• organizations conducting development of documents containing data on inventory survey for radioactive substances emissions and discharges.

In this regard, the Safety Guide RB-085-13 "Recommendations to the Contents of Documents to Substantiate Standards for Maximum Permissible Emissions of Radioactive Substances into Atmosphere and Standards for Permissible Discharges of Radioactive Substances into Water Bodies" approved by the Order of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia of August 19, 2013 No. 362 shall be recognized as revoked.
